I want to invite you to a world with us. A world in which modern day seers, such as George Lucas always have their way. A world in which visionary men such as himself, are able to go back and consistently "Tweak" their previous franchises. In this world, it is not necessary to create new intellectual properties. Nay, the rules here are malleable. "Rediscovering" an old classic is certainly more civil than frightening movie goers and the public at large with a franchise that is... dare i say, unfamiliar. Men such as lucas are true rebels in their respective fields. Brave enough to put themselves out on the line, to show us how incompetent their original work was. This selfless act is to show a (Hopefully forgiving) audience, what it was that he truly held in his minds eye.
This is not about the money. If it were about the money we would most certainly need to purchase a snake skin whip and rugged leather hat with every admissions ticket. No, this is something more. Something meaningful. This is about righting wrongs. Lucas can not sleep while his beloved intellectual properties go about, willy nilly, unbridled and mocking him in his slumber. He knows that millions of viewers have been fed something resembling burned toast. Fortunately Lucas is kind enough to put a whole new slice of bread for us into the toaster. From your legions of faithful fans, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. There was always something missing, and it's awe inspiring that a man like yourself, with so much potential for fresh new ideas, would delve into areas that are so uncomfortable to him, so foreign and terrifying.
You truly set the standard for the industry, and we can only hope fresh young writers, directors, and producers all adopt your devil may care attitude. They will forget about the cash ins, and really put themselves out there to bring the sordid masses, the next great story. Retold. |
